About Apricate

APRICATE takes its name from the word meaning “to bask in the sun” — inspired by a love of travel, coastal living, and the simple moments spent outdoors.

Founded from a lifelong appreciation for textiles and thoughtful design, APRICATE began with just four beach towel designs inspired by our Founder’s travels and experiences exploring Australia’s coastline. After spending almost four years living full-time on the road in a caravan, we came to understand the value of products that are not only beautiful, but genuinely practical for everyday adventure.

Long beach days, salty afternoons, caravan parks, roadside stops, spontaneous swims, tiny washing lines, limited storage space, and life constantly on the move all helped shape the products we create today.

What started as a search for better travel towels quickly grew into something more — a collection thoughtfully designed to suit the way people actually live, travel, and explore.

At APRICATE, we don’t believe one towel should do everything. Our beach, bath, gym, and travel ranges are each designed with their purpose in mind, balancing absorbency, softness, drying time, portability, durability, and performance where it matters most.

Every APRICATE towel is sand-free, lightweight, compact, quick-drying, and designed to make life a little easier — whether you’re heading to the beach, packing the caravan, travelling overseas, fitting in a gym session, or simply enjoying everyday life outdoors.

Sustainability also sits at the heart of what we do. Our towels are made using recycled polyester (rPET), crafted from post-consumer recycled plastics including discarded bottles, textiles, and reclaimed fishing nets diverted from landfill and oceans.

We believe thoughtful design extends beyond the product itself. Many of our towels include matching water-resistant carry bags for practical storage and travel, while our packaging incorporates recycled cardstock and biodegradable materials to help reduce unnecessary waste.

As a proudly Australian-owned family business, we care deeply about creating products responsibly. We work closely with manufacturing partners who share our commitment to ethical production, environmental responsibility, quality craftsmanship, and long-lasting design.
